“As official provider of NFPA seminars Riskonet is organising several NFPA 13, NFPA 20 and NFPA 25 trainings”

February 25, 2022

Riskonet is an official provider of NFPA seminars and is authorised to organise and present Live Virtual Trainings to companies in countries in the Central European Time zone. Riskonet Nederland partner and licensed NFPA-trainer Tom de Nooij lists a few reasons why you won’t want to miss them.

Riskonet and NFPA are now organising official NFPA webinars. Why is this an important development?

Well, first of all I feel it’s important to stress that these are official NFPA seminars, whereby participants receive personal log-in credentials for www.nfpa.org that grants them exclusive access to their own learning environment. Moreover, after following a seminar, all participants can take an online exam. And, of course, NFPA only allows trainers to be used that are accredited by the NFPA!

What are the advantages of training online or virtually, as opposed to live, in person?

Firstly, participants of online seminars enjoy the convenience of learning at their own computer, either at home or at work. And secondly, it removes the need to miss an extended period of work and avoids substantial travel and accommodation costs, not to mention the obligation to comply with current Covid restrictions and regulations. And the potential savings don’t end there. Due to the lower risk involved, organising a seminar has been made more cost effective and some of the savings made can be passed down to participating companies. For organisers, expensive hotel reservation costs, as well as possible cancellation costs, can be avoided. Moreover, it is not necessary to factor in for a postponement or change of venue if participation in a seminar turns out to be lower than anticipated.

“Given the choice, I’d prefer to follow a training course in person, in a classroom, with a trainer standing in front of the group. If a course lasts several days on location, you’ll often be in the same hotel with the other participants and you can establish some very interesting network contacts. However, on-location live trainings aren’t always possible.

Riskonet's Live Virtual Trainings simply cannot be compared with other digital training courses that I have followed. They involve so much more than just an NFPA trainer with a laptop and a selfie camera. In the Riskonet version the trainer stands in front of a green screen on which he can demonstrate things. He also paces back and forth, so it’s quite dynamic. It's just like being in a real classroom.

At one point, while explaining something, the trainer addressed me personally by saying: 'Hilbert, you don’t look convinced; what’s not clear?'. I had my own camera on, which is what made that kind of non-verbal interaction possible. The trainer proactively seeks interaction. While explaining something about regulations, for example, he’ll ask participants to give examples. In this way, the trainer is continuously checking whether we have understood the material.”

Act now

Registration for NFPA 13, 20 and 25 training programmes is already underway. So rather than be tempted to take the path that leads to an unofficial NFPA training, opt instead for Riskonet, the officially certified NFPA provider for the Central European Time zone. And don’t forget, subject to successful completion of the training programme, we can also issue the official NFPA certification.
