Riskonet Authorized Provider and Instructor NFPA

August 20, 2024

With immediate effect, Riskonet Academy, with offices in the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and South Africa, is the only Authorized Provider and Instructor of NFPA for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The renowned National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) announced this.

We spoke to an enthusiastic Tom de Nooij, partner of Riskonet and Riskonet Academy, who has personally been working as an NFPA Certified Trainer since 2008: “We and our team are proud of this recognition from NFPA. The many hundreds of students who we have had the pleasure of training in recent years on one or more of the globally accepted NFPA Codes and Standards know me and my colleagues as passionate instructors. In addition, we have now been recognized by NFPA as an Authorized Provider from all Riskonet Academy branches.”

Official certificate

Training in dealing with the NFPA Codes and Standards is provided by many parties, but there is a clear difference in level with the training provided by Riskonet Academy. “Others provide training on NFPA,” explains Tom de Nooij. “We provide training courses from NFPA, including an official certificate. Our instructors are co-authors of the NFPA Standards. Students get as close to the fire as possible.”

Stay up to date

The training courses in the NFPA Codes and Standards, as well as the training to become a Certified fire protection specialist that Riskonet Academy provides, are specifically intended for risk managers, insurance managers and safety specialists at governments and the competent authorities. “We not only familiarize our students with NFPA regulations, but also ensure that they stay up to date. The NFPA Standards are updated every three years and it is important for professionals to always work according to the current standards.”

No travel necessary

An important reason for the NFPA certification and recognition of both the trainers and the Riskonet Academy organization is the way in which the training is provided by the company. “During the corona pandemic it was not possible to provide training on location”, Tom de Nooij explains. “We then developed the live virtual training courses, a method that has now been embraced by NFPA. This form of training does not require travel, but the students feel as if they are in one room with the other participants. Including the opportunity to interact with the trainers and fellow students. We have managed to reduce the interruption of valuable working time. We now know that live virtual training is here to stay. Now also in the United States, NFPA's home market. We do however still regularly provide on-site training. This often concerns in-company training.”
